Watch Online / Le Corbusier: Pessac (2013)
Desc: Le Corbusier: Pessac: Directed by Jean-Marie Bertineau. In 1924, in Pessac, in the Bordeaux suburbs, two concrete "idealists", Henry Frugès and Charles Edouard Jeanneret decided to build "a garden city" for the workers. The first is a rich sugar industrialist, heir to the great tradition of the humanist bosses of the XIXth century who wants to accommodate his staff in comfort, and the second is an architect with the still unknown name of Le Corbusier. Almost a century later, with the help of the current inhabitants, some heirs to the houses of their parents or grandparents, historians and architects, tell us the story of this city invented by Le Corbusier. The city of Pessac, an "exceptional" laboratory for social housing and one of the precursor "gestures" of modern architecture by the great architect. Listed as a Historic Monument since the early 1980s, in the process of being listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, the popular houses of the Cité Frugès have become the object of all curiosities !!.
